Carrisa Plains Outfitters offers guided California quail hunts on private ranch land in the Carrisa Plains region of eastern San Luis Obispo County on California’s Central Coast. Our ranch provides excellent habitat for California quail, with rolling grasslands, oak-covered hills, and brushy draws that hold strong populations of upland birds.

Quail hunting on the Central Coast is one of California’s most classic upland hunting experiences. Whether you’re an experienced bird hunter or planning your first quail hunt, our guides will help you locate birds and navigate the terrain for an authentic Central Coast hunting experience.

Located about an hour east of Paso Robles, Carrisa Plains Outfitters offers access to large private ranch properties with healthy quail populations and productive upland habitat throughout the season.

In addition to our quail hunts, Carrisa Plains Outfitters also offers wild pig hunts, dove hunts, and varmint hunts on the ranch throughout the year.

  • 1 day hunt. $300 per person per day (3+ people). $400 per person per day (1-2 people).

    Includes: Transportation on the ranch and a personal guide with field dressing. Lodging and food not included.

  • California quail season typically runs from October through January on California’s Central Coast.

    Daily bag limits and possession limits follow regulations set by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

    Hunters should confirm current season dates and limits prior to their hunt.

  • Hunters must possess:

    • Valid California hunting license
    • California upland game bird validation

    All hunters are responsible for obtaining required licenses and stamps prior to the hunt.
